MP Owen Paterson’s demand for funding

The Chancellor is to face a fresh funding demand from Cabinet colleague Owen Paterson after the Shropshire MP’s epic 1,000-kilometre horse ride across Mongolia.
The Northern Ireland Secretary of State and his wife followed a trail blazed by Genghis Khan and took part in a nine-day race, enduring extreme weather and being set on by a pack of dogs. Rose Paterson also survived two tumbles.
Mr Paterson said: “Good businessman that he is, the Chancellor promised me a cheque, but only on completion.”
