Wrong Ludlow tenants get tidy garden orders
Thursday 11th August 2011, 10:57AM BST.
Letters have been sent out to tenants on a Ludlow estate threatening action unless their gardens are cleaned up within two weeks.
But red-faced housing chiefs behind the letters today admitted they had been sent to the wrong people. South Shropshire Housing Association has made an unreserved apology after angry Sandpits estate residents hit out at the “insulting” letters, which followed on-foot inspections by housing officers.
Some tenants received letters telling them to clear fly-tipping and waste from their gardens within 14 days, despite their gardens being perfectly tidy.
Ann Sutcliffe, executive director of neighbourhoods at Shropshire Housing Group, said today: “It has become clear that some letters about the general tidiness of gardens were sent to the wrong people.
“We can understand the annoyance of the residents who have wrongly received these letters and we apologise unreservedly to them.”
