Warning on fake £50 notes
Thursday 11th August 2011, 10:34AM BST.
Pub landlords and shopkeepers in Shropshire have been warned to look out for fake Scottish £50 notes.
Police issued a warning after two incidents in Shrewsbury when notes believed to be fake were used in payments at pubs in the town.
A man was caught on camera at The Peacock pub in Wenlock Road shortly after midday on Tuesday, when a Scottish £50 note was used to pay for a bottle of lager and a meal.
After receiving change, he sat outside awaiting his food but left before it was served.
The man seen at the Peacock pub was white, in his 30s, about 5ft 2ins with scruffy short dark hair. He was wearing a blue checked shirt, jeans and brown shoes.
