A Shropshire man named as one of the 10 most wanted fraudsters in the country has handed himself in, police said today.

Nicholas Slocombe was arrested after walking into Shrewsbury police station at about 5.30pm yesterday after several recent sightings in the town. The 28-year-old is suspected of obtaining money from shops and businesses in Shropshire and Herefordshire by posing as a charity worker.

He was initially arrested in April on suspicion of committing more than 30 offences across the two counties, but failed to answer bail in May. A warrant was issued for his arrest and police appealed to the public for information on his whereabouts.

Slocombe was included on a Crimestoppers’ list of the 10 most wanted people in the UK for crimes of fraud last week.
