Builder in 12ft Ellesmere school roof plunge

A 52-year-old builder was airlifted to hospital after falling from the roof of a school in north Shropshire.

The man was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured wrist and severe back and neck pain following the fall at the Lakelands School in Oswestry Road, Ellesmere, at about 2.30pm yesterday.

Murray MacGregor, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said the man had fallen nearly 12 feet and landed on his back.

He added that the man had complained of severe pain in his back and chest and suffered a suspected fracture to his wrist before being immobilised and airlifted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
