£10,000 reward in unsolved Albert Ryall death case
Tuesday 9th August 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Detectives investigating the unsolved death of a pensioner found 11 years ago after thieves raided his home today claimed someone in south Shropshire could be withholding vital information which could bring the raiders to justice.
West Mercia Police offered a £10,000 reward earlier this summer for new information about the theft of a 16-stone safe from Albert Ryall in November 2000.
Mr Ryall was found dead at his house in Risbury, near Leominster following the theft.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Hughes, who is leading the investigation, said new leads suggested people in the Wyre Forest area, which includes rural villages which are near Cleobury Mortimer and Highley, must have more information.
No-one has yet been charged in relation to the death of Mr Ryall, whose face showed signs he had been assaulted.
A post mortem examination has since found he died of a heart attack triggered by the mental and physical stress of being burgled.
An inquest in 2002 found Mr Ryall was the victim of unlawful killing.
Anyone with information can call Mr Hughes on 0300 333 3000, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
