Onibury’s Wernlas Collection to be sold off

One of Britain’s leading poultry breeding centres in south Shropshire is to close after its owners today announced their retirement after 25 years.

The Wernlas Collection in Onibury has appeared in BBC programmes and gained international acc-laim due to its important role hatching 15,000 rare breed chicks each year.

But with owners’ Sue and Shaun Hammon’s retirement, the whole award-winning collection is being sold off to the highest bidders at an auction on September 3.

Abi Bliss, Mr Hammon’s daughter-in-law, said: “This really is the end of an era.”
