Biker is injured in tractor crash near Shrewsbury

A motorcyclist suffered multiple injuries in a collision with a tractor near Shrewsbury.
The 38-year-old rider sustained serious neck and back injuries in the smash just before midday yesterday.
He was initially taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford before being transferred to the University Hospital North Staffordshire at Stoke.
He was riding a blue and white Suzuki GSXR 100 motorcycle along the B5061 at Atcham when it was involved in a collision with a green John Deere tractor at 11.55am.
Both vehicles were travelling in the same direction heading from Shrewsbury towards Norton.
The tractor was being followed by a green combine harvester at the time.
A West Mercia Police spokesman said today that officers were keen for people to come forward with any information about the collision
“This collision resulted in serious multiple injuries to the motorcyclist,” the spokesman said.
“An investigation has been launched and an appeal issued for witnesses.
“Anyone who saw the impact or the circumstances leading up to it is asked to contact Shrewsbury police station on 0300 333 3000.”
The road was closed in both directions while the emergency services worked at the scene.
