‘Savage dogs’ are roaming estate roads
Saturday 6th August 2011, 11:30AM BST.
A Shropshire man today claimed his cat was savaged by dogs on a county housing estate – the second pet he has lost in the last 12 months.
Alan James, who lives in Telford, is now calling for something to be done to prevent any more attacks.
Mr Jame and his wife Julia, who live in Larkspur Glade, Randlay, said they have lost two cats – Rosy and Smokey – to dog attacks. The latest incident was July 12.
Mr James said: “The dogs which attacked Rosy were terriers – collared dogs not strays.
“It was very upsetting and the vets could do nothing about it. They had to put her down.
“It was a similar story when Smokey, my other cat, was killed.
“Something needs to be done about this, it’s not an isolated problem in the area.”
Chris Ammonds, spokesman for Telford Police, said they had received reports of dog attacks in the past few months and urged victims to contact local policing teams which would investigate any incidents.
