Police hand out 48 tickets to speeders
Saturday 6th August 2011, 11:30AM BST.
Almost 50 speeding tickets have been handed out in the past three months to motorists driving through the Corvedale after police launched regular spot checks.
The tickets have been issued to drivers on the B4368 between Craven Arms and Bridgnorth after residents in the area claimed that cars and motorbikes were travelling at speeds of up to 100mph along the road.
In total 48 tickets were recorded between May and the end of July, while regular weekend roadshows have been held in the area to educate motorcyclists on road safety.
Residents have praised the police for their swift response, although they still maintain a long-term wish for a 50mph speed limit.
The figures have been revealed as part of a drive to improve safety on the road which has been the scene of a number of serious accidents in recent years.
