Centenarian Ellen’s gift to surgery

When Shropshire woman Ellen Anslow reached her 100th birthday she wanted to make a difference to her community.
There were no gifts she wanted and her friends and family had already lined up a birthday party for her.
So Ellen, of Bishop’s Castle, asked everyone to make a cash donation to the town’s doctors surgery – and this week she handed £360 to Dr Adrian Fairbanks, one of the partners, to go towards new medical equipment for the surgery.
She has thanked everyone for making her birthday special and for helping to raise cash for the surgery, which she has belonged to for several years.
