Shropshire hosepipe ban threat averted, say bosses
Tuesday 2nd August 2011, 12:35AM BST.
The threat of a summer hosepipe ban in Shropshire has been averted, Severn Trent said today.
The company, which supplies eight million customers across the Midlands and the heart of England, warned as early as June water restrictions were likely because of below average rainfall. But bosses have announced a combination of measures had staved off the need for a ban.
They say it is because of residents using their water more wisely, a ret- urn to normal seasonal levels of rainfall and a re- duction in leakage levels,
Customer services director Martin Kane confirmed water restrictions would now not be necessary.
