Car ploughs into lounge of Telford family watching TV
Monday 1st August 2011, 1:29PM BST.
A Shropshire family escaped serious injury when a car smashed through the front of their house and into their living room as they sat watching television.
A nine-year-old girl and an elderly woman suffered minor injuries when the Vauxhall Astra ploughed into the house in Churchill Road, in Arleston, Telford, at 9.45pm on Saturday.
Neighbours spoke of their horror as they described helping to drag the family-of-six out of the hole in the wall as the living room filled with smoke from the car.
A woman in her 40s has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and released on police bail.
Neighbours said the noise of the car smashing into the house sounded like a bomb.
