Arson attack ravages firm
Monday 1st August 2011, 2:13PM BST.
A fire ripped through a Shropshire business causing up to £400,000 of damage in an arson attack, police said today.
Firefighters spent three hours tackling the blaze at the industrial unit occupied by bespoke joinery and carpentry business, Niblett Ltd at Edgebold, Hanwood, near Shrewsbury. The fire broke out at about 2am yesterday.
Police today issued an appeal for information following the blaze at the old dairy depot site which Niblett shares with several other firms. Officers were alerted by the fire service.
Extensive damage was caused to the building, including to the roof and machinery inside.
It is thought a quantity of timber outside the premises was deliberately set alight and the fire then spread to the building.
Anyone with information can call Shrewsbury police on 0300 333 3000 or the confidential Crimestoppers service on 0800 555 111.
