Bridgnorth attacker is fought off by victim, 24
Saturday 30th July 2011, 11:29AM BST.
A woman fought off a man who grabbed her from behind during a terrifying attack in Bridgnorth in the early hours of today.
The 24-year-old was walking home along a footpath, known as Hospital Walk, when she was set upon by the stranger.
The victim struggled with the man for several minutes before the attacker was scared off when someone else came along the path running between Innage Lane and Northgate.
The incident happened at about 2am and the woman, who had been out drinking with her family in the town centre, was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford for treatment to several minor injuries.
The footpath was closed off while police examined the scene. Officers are due to look at CCTV cameras as part of the investigation and to trace the woman’s movements.
