Paraglider crashes into Clee Hill rock face

A paraglider pilot has been airlifted to hospital after crashing into a rock face at a Shropshire beauty spot, sparking a major rescue operation.

The man was left stranded on the rock face below the summit of Clee Hill, near Ludlow, after a collision at about 11.40am.

Paramedics found the pilot to be conscious and breathing, but in need of treatment for his injuries.

The injured man was airlifted to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital at about 1pm but the extent of his injuries is not yet known.

Firefighters from four Shropshire stations and the Midlands Air Ambulance from RAF Cosford were called to the scene.
