A Shropshire business which has been bringing happiness to children for about 25 years is showing others how to beat the tough economic times with orders coming in from across the world.

David Kiss, who runs the, with his wife Noreen, has been busy restoring and making rocking horses in the county since 1987.

Now the couple’s pedigree is helping them to battle through the nation’s tough economic times with Mr Kiss revealing the company’s order book is healthy with three to four months’ work in the pipeline at most times.

And orders are coming in from collectors and enthusiasts as far away as Australia.

He said: “We’ve been quite busy, mainly with restoration work, but we’re still making a few new horses for people.

“Our customers come from Marchamley and as far away as Australia.

“We seem to get quite a bit of business from Australia, which is down to collectors who buy their rocking horses in this country then have them restored by us before we send them on.

“Most of the restoration jobs are quite time consuming. We can be involved with one horse for a week and we can typically have a three to four-month waiting list.

“My wife and I love working with rocking horses as they are all loved by someone somewhere.”

Mr Kiss said he did the bulk of the “heavy duty” repair work, while his wife painted the horses and applied any finishing touches.
