Lorry driver dies in M5 accident

A man has died after his lorry hit a bridge and burst into flames on the M5 during the early hours of today.

The motorway has been shut in both directions between Junction 3 at Halesowen and Junction 4 at Bromsgrove following the crash on the northbound carriage at 1.30am.

It was expected to remain closed in both directions until at least noon causing delays of up to 40 minutes for motorists using the diversion.

Paramedics were unable to save the driver who was in the cab and he was confirmed dead by ambulance crews.
