Oswestry showground is set for a £149,000 revamp after owners claimed signs of age is causing a loss in bookings.
Oswestry and District Agricultural Society owns the Park Hall venue, which is host to a number of events including the Oswestry Show and The Shropshire Truck Show.
Members of the society have now unveiled plans to revamp the site in a bid to win back shows and entice new ones to the area.
Plans include modernising the grounds, re-roof the leaking pavilion, resurfacing its disabled area and bringing the box office to the showground.
The facilities were created as Army barracks for the 17th Training Regiment RA at Park Hall Camp, Oswestry.
The society has called for £139,172 cash help from Shropshire Council’s Market Towns Revitalisation Programme to modernise the grounds.
Oswestry mayor Cynthia Hawksley said: “I welcome these plans.”

I welcome the news of the money, but I do have to ask the question is, like the cattle market, why have they got into such a state. We always hear each show has been a success , time after time, so where does the money go!!
its not going back into the place, just like the cattle market, so where is it.
