Mid Wales Air Ambulance cover expanded
Wednesday 20th July 2011, 3:55PM BST.
The Wales Air Ambulance has expanded its emergency cover in Mid Wales from five to seven days a week.
The charity, which made the announcement at the Royal Welsh Show, said seven-day cover was vital in such a remote region.
The expanded service, costing an extra £300,000 a year, will operate for a six-month trial period with the aim of making it permanent.
Wales’s third air ambulance was launched in Welshpool in 2006. The other two, based in Caernarfon and Swansea, already operate seven days a week, while all three cost the charity £5 million a year to keep in the air.
The charity is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
