£5,000 Telford power tool raid
Wednesday 20th July 2011, 5:33PM BST.
Power tools worth about £5,000 have been stolen from a building site in Telford.
Raiders broke into the site in Priorslee Road, Snedshill, despite it being locked up.
Police believe the raid happened between 5pm on Monday and 7am yesterday after a fence was broken and items were taken from two storage sheds on the site.
The haul, thought to be worth about £5,000, included power saws, a pipe laser, tripod legs and a cable detector.
Police are investigating the break-in and are appealing to members of the public for help.
Telford police spokeswoman Denise Wakefield said: “Thieves broke in initially through a fence, which borders Telford Way.
“Offenders then broke into the storage containers.
“It is highly likely that there were at least two offenders, due to the fact that some of the stolen items were very heavy. It is likely that a vehicle was also used to transport the items away. It is possible that the vehicle was parked in Telford Way.
“If you saw or heard anything suspicious – whether it was persons or a vehicle – then we would like to hear from you.”
Telford Police can be contacted on 0300 333 3000.
Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
