Two men have appeared in court in connection with an alleged attack on an Oswestry pensioner in his own home.
Charles Green died a month after a burglary at his home in May.
Yesterday Peter Marston, 23, of Stafford, and Danny Keeble, 25, of no fixed abode, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court charged with assaulting 87-year-old Mr Green at his home in Ambleside Road, Oswestry, on May 2.
The two men each face a charge of assaulting Mr Green with intent to rob and with entering his home as a trespasser.
They also each face a charge of stealing a passport, bank savings book and other papers when a person was subjected to violence.
The case was adjourned until September 9 for a plea and case management hearing and both men were remanded in custody.
Mr Green, a great-grandfather, received head, hip and arm injuries during the incident.
He died in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on June 2.
