Shropshire is set for another wet and cold week with rain and showers every day, forecasters said today.

It comes after events held in the county over the weekend were hit by rain.

And despite the summer holidays fast approaching, the weekend’s wet weather looks set to continue throughout the week.

Cloudy weather and showers are expected tomorrow and Wednesday, while Thursday morning is forecast to begin with a burst of rain.

Helen Rossington, a forecaster with the MeteoGroup, said county residents should not be too gloomy about the prospects for the weather in the coming week. “It is to be unsettled, but it is not going to rain all the time. Tomorrow doesn’t look too bad,” she said.

Poor weather affected much of the county over last weekend, but concert-goers in Shrewsbury managed to escape a soaking on Friday as the weather held out for Status Quo’s gig in the Quarry.
