Britain in Bloom judges visit Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury in Bloom organisers were today showing a panel of expert judges around the town.
The Heart of England experts began their visit at Salop Leisure this morning and are due to make their way to Shrewsbury Castle and The Quarry in the early afternoon as they cast their eyes over this year’s floral displays that have gone up around Shrewsbury.
Organisers are hoping to repeat the success of 2010, when the town was handed a gold award for its floral display.
Judges will be in Oswestry and Bridgnorth on Wednesday.
Councillor Jackie Brennand, chairman of Shrewsbury in Bloom, said the team behind this year’s entry have their fingers crossed they can make it through to the national section of the contest, Britain in Bloom.

Just wondered do you have to pay to enter these britain in bloom competitions? or are they free to enter?
also do these judges get payed to travel all over and where do they get there funding?
hope any one can help?

Britain in Bloom is organised by the Royal Horticultural Sciety so they pick up judging costs.
Don’t know if there’s an entry fee.

Last time I was I S’bury the floral displays were beautifu. I’m doing my little bit on Wyle Cop. Let’s hope there has been a little rain while I have been away!
