CCTV hit by funds crisis

One of Powys’s biggest towns has been left without an operational CCTV system because of funding problems.

Newtown’s Closed Circuit Television system, which is believed to have been switched off earlier this year, will remain off until someone can take over the managing and funding of it.

Steve Geary, town clerk for Newtown Town Council, said it would costs tens of thousands of pounds for the town council to take over and monitor the CCTV system.
