Oswestry funding competitors to be revealed
Friday 15th July 2011, 3:05PM BST.
Regeneration projects bidding for a share of a £650,000 cash pot will be unveiled at a meeting in Oswestry next week.
Eight projects hope to cash in on the funding, which is available as part of Shropshire Council’s Market Towns Revitalisation Programme.
The shortlisted projects, and what they hope to do to improve Oswestry’s economy, will be revealed at an open meeting in The Whole Life Centre at Cabin Lane on Tuesday at 7.30pm.
Shropshire Council community action manager Kate Garner said: “The meeting will be an opportunity to hear about the eight projects that are currently seeking support from the Oswestry Market Towns Revitalisation Programme.
“Representatives of the projects will give a short presentation on what they want to achieve and how this will provide economic benefit to Oswestry.
“The Oswestry Shropshire Council members will then make recommendations on which projects should go forward to an informal programme board for final decision.”
Expressions of interest from a range of projects, which offer economic benefit to the town and reflect the priorities of local people, were received earlier this year.
The funding is for capital projects providing an immediate boost to the town.
