Shrewsbury Riverside development plans go on show
Thursday 14th July 2011, 8:05AM BST.
Plans to demolish and rebuild Shrewsbury’s Riverside shopping area go on show to the public today.
The £150m development, called New Riverside, would be linked to the Pride Hill and Darwin Centres.
The plans will be on show in the Darwin Centre today from 12pm to 8pm, on Friday from 10am to 5.30pm and on Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
The developers, Ignis Asset Management and Shearer Property Group, say the scheme would make the town centre more attractive to shoppers and would include a new department store.

All good, but a shame about the lack of car parking in the town not to mention the costs of parking. It may be attractive to bring shoppers to the town but unless the parking issues get resolved then you are wasting your time building this…

If only they could fill the shops like the car parks, and now they’re planning on 60 more retail outlets and a massive 50 more parking spaces.Let’s hope the shop staff car-share.
…and pray tell where are all the anti-Tesco brigade? Not even a whimper from them…..

having witnessed 37 years of “progress” in shrewsbury, and being a victim of some of the cut backs, while at the same time watching money being spent on monstrosities,I’ve become cynical enough to believe that this will be more about what the council will gain than what will benefit the people of Shrewsbury, and i can already hear their gleeful rubbing of hands while they consider the parking issue!!.
