Jobs created as Stadco opens Telford site
Thursday 14th July 2011, 3:21PM BST.
Car parts manufacturer Stadco opened its 18-acre site in Telford today, creating a further 50 jobs.
The company, which already has a base in Shrewsbury, bought the former Ogihara site at Hortonwood earlier this year.
Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard, the leader of Telford & Wrekin Council Kuldip Sahota and Telford’s mayor and mayoress Malcolm and Christine Smith were on hand to cut to ribbon.
Mr Pritchard said: “I warmly welcome Stadco’s investment and expansion into Telford.”
Stadco supplies parts for a range automotive manufacturers and vehicles, including Jaguar and Land Rover.
Company bosses say the Telford site incorporates two large mechanical stamping lines, a fully-equipped tool room and a further 24,000 sq m of manufacturing space for future expansion.
Stadco managing director Dermot Sterne said: “Today’s event is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this key milestone in Stadco’s development and, importantly, thank our colleagues for the hard work and skill required to launch this plant in record time. “
