Oswestry leisure complex opens as normal
Saturday 9th July 2011, 1:18PM BST.
An Oswestry leisure complex was operating as normal today despite its parent company being placed into administration.
Llangollen Hotels Limited and its parent firm Global Investments Group, which runs Oswestry’s Mclarens Fantastic Fun House complex, were put into administration yesterday.
Staff arriving at the complex in Oswestry today said they had been told to report for work as normal.
Administrators KPMG said Oswestry’s Mclarens Fantastic Fun House was now being operated by the owner of the premises.
KPMG spokeswoman Bernice Marks said jobs had been lost at some of the parent firm’s other businesses.
She said: “Llangollen Hotels comprises a chain of seven hotels in North Wales and Cheshire.
“They include four freehold hotels, Bodidris Hall in Llandegla and The Wild Pheasant Hotel, The Chainbridge Hotel and The Bryn Howel Hotel which are located in Llangollen.
“Any bookings and deposits for these hotels will be honoured until the hotels are sold.
“The other remaining hotels, which are leased, are The Anchor Hotel in Ruthin, The Wynnstay Arms Hotel in Wrexham and The Chester Bridge Hotel in Chester.
“The directors shut the Wynnstay Arms Hotel prior to the appointment of administrators. The other two have been closed.”
