Fresh tributes were today paid to Oswestry great-grandfather Charles Green who died after being attacked in his own home.

Mr Green suffered head, hip and arm injuries during the incident on May 2

The 87-year-old died in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on June 2.

His death shocked neighbours and relatives and today fresh tributes were made by his grandson Lee Davies.

Mr Davies: “I would like to pay tribute to a dear dad, grandad and great-grandad, Charles Green, who is sadly no longer with us due to unforeseen circumstances.

“Everything he did was from the heart and full of meaning. He offered his support and loved his family and is very much missed.

“He was a man who liked the outdoors and loved life.

“He will always be loved and held a special place in our hearts.”

Peter John Marston has been remanded in custody after appearing in court yesterday charged in connection with the attack. Marston, 23, of Morfield, Stafford, made a brief appearance at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court.

Marston was remanded in custody for a preliminary hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court, expected to take place on July 18.

A 25-year-old man has also been arrested and bailed on suspicion of murder as inquiries continue.
