Man appears in court after Ellesmere machete incident

A 28-year-old Shropshire man charged with the possession of a machete during a late night incident in Ellesmere has appeared in court.

Mark McPhee, of Watergate Street, Ellesmere appeared at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court yesterday facing four charges relating to the incident on Friday.

He is charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assaulting a police constable in the execution of her duty, affray and being in possession of a bladed article, namely a machete.

McPhee was remanded in custody and his case will be heard at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday.
