A 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder of a Shropshire pensioner who was attacked in his own home has been granted police bail while investigations continue.

The man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of the murder of Oswestry man Charles Green, 87, who died in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on June 2.

His death came a month after he was attacked by intruders who broke into his home in Ambleside Road.

Mr Green had remained in hospital following the assault during the early hours of May 2, having received head, hip and arm injuries.

Two men were arrested on the day of the incident.

Police spokesman Richard Ewels today confirmed that a 25-year-old man had been given police bail while inquiries continued.
