Man stabbed in Oswestry

A man was stabbed in the back in a street attack in Oswestry this afternoon.

The man, believed to be aged 40, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police said he was attacked at, or near, a telephone kiosk in Liverpool Road near the town centre at around 2.15pm.

Four men are thought to have been responsible.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “We believe up to four men, who may be Asian, were involved in the incident. It’s possible they had had a car nearby and again we are seeking information on sightings.

“The number to call for Oswestry or Shrewsbury police stations are 0300 333 3000.

“Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111”.
