Powys councillors back Welsh Assembly windfarm policy review

Thousands of campaigners cheered as councillors from across Powys backed a urgent review into the Welsh Assembly’s wind farm policy.

More than 2,000 protestors flocked to a full meeting of Powys County Council today at Welshpool Livestock Market to watch on a big screen as councillors discussed a motion put forward by Councillor David Jones and Councillor Graham Brown calling for a review into the TAN8 policy.

A total of 60 councillors of the 61 present backed a review, with just Councillor Beryl Vaughan abstaining.

Following the vote, campaigner Jonathan Wilkinson, from Meifod, watching outside, said: “This is great news, I am pleased they have backed the motion.”
