A man had to be cut free from the wreckage of a car after it collided with a milk tanker near Whitchurch today.

The man, who has not been named, was travelling in a car along the A525 in Broughall when the crash happened at about 6.30am.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to rescue the man who was then taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford with suspected neck and back injuries.

Motorists faced hold-ups while emergency services worked at the scene, but the road was cleared by about 8.30am.
