Gran catches thief – then gives him £10
Saturday 18th June 2011, 11:29AM BST.
A 61-year-old Telford grandmother chased after and caught a thief who had snatched her handbag – and then gave him £10 after he apologised and said he was homeless and hungry.
The woman was pushing her bicycle in Leegomery when the thief ran past and grabbed the bag.
She immediately gave chase and, after another woman performed a “dance” to slow him down, he eventually apologised and gave her the bag back.
Police today made an appeal to track the thief down after the incident, which happened near the chemist in Lawton Farm Way at about 11.30am on Wednesday.
