Saturday 18th June 2011, 11:35AM BST.
Olympian and former 5,000m world record hold David Moorcroft said Shropshire should be “extremely proud” of its links to the modern day Olympic Games during a visit to the county.
The former middle and long-distance runner was at Shrewsbury’s Quarry park yesterday on the first day of the Shropshire Olympian Festival, a major sporting and cultural event which is being recreated for the first time in nearly 150 years.
