Oswestry health village to open soon
Wednesday 15th June 2011, 11:25AM BST.
Oswestry’s new multi-million pound “health village” is to open in the next few weeks, bosses say.
Work is nearly finished on the health centre being built inside part of the former Cambrian Railway buildings, off Gobowen road.
The project has included the restoration of the historic, listed building to convert it into a centre that will hold a GP surgery, a minor injuries unit, X-ray facilities, dentistry and other services.
Today a spokesman for the Primary Care Trust confirmed the centre is due to open at the end of next month or the beginning of August.
Shropshire Councillor David Lloyd, who was leader of Oswestry Borough Council when work first started on the project, said: “We are really delighted that they have got the scheme to a stage where it is about to open.”
