Thieves stamp to death Shropshire family’s guinea pigs

Thieves have stolen a south Shropshire family’s pet guinea pigs and killed three of the animals by stamping on them.

The family from Ludlow have been left devastated, and police today appealed for information.

West Mercia Police said the thieves entered the front garden of a house in Milton Road between 6.30pm on Friday and 7pm on Saturday. They broke the doors on two wooden hutches in the garden and made off with six guinea pigs.

Three others were killed, believed to have been deliberately stamped on.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said today: “The family, especially the children, are understandably very upset over what’s happened.

“We are hoping someone will come forward with information to help identify the offenders. If anyone saw anything suspicious which might be related to the incident, or has information about those responsible, we would ask them to contact Ludlow police station on 0300-333-3000.

“Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800-555-111.”
