Day of thrills promised at Cosford Air Show

More than 50,000 visitors are set to descend on RAF Cosford tomorrow for a day of thrills at the base’s world famous air show.

This year’s Cosford Air Show will see dozens of aircraft and spectacular aerobatic teams entertaining spectators at RAF Cosford on the Shropshire-Staffordshire border.

There will also be plenty of entertainment on the ground and a number of static displays. This year’s event will mark a number of anniversaries, including the 50th birthday of The Falcons and 70 years since the invention of the jet engine.

The annual show features the only RAF flying display in the Midlands. The programme ranges from pre-war machines to the latest combat aircraft like the Tornado GR4. The fighter’s display will give spectators a glimpse of moves and manoeuvres used in ongoing operations in Afghanistan and Libya.

Tickets will be £25 on the gate, cash only. Tickets are free for children under 16 when accompanied by an adult. Or call the 24-hour Cosford Air Show Ticket Line on 0871 230 1083. Tickets are also available from the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford and in Mid Counties Co-Operative stores.
