We’ll take your car warning to bad parkers
Friday 10th June 2011, 10:29AM BST.
Drivers who consistently flout parking rules could end up losing their cars as part of a major clampdown by transport chiefs.
Shropshire Council has now put together a new policy and procedure for clamping and removing illegally parked cars to punish those who ignore parking rules to serve as a deterrent.
Bosses say parking regulations are important to make the roads safe and prevent obstructions for emergency vehicles and public transport.
Council Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs) advise drivers on where to park safely and legally, and where necessary issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to those who do not.
But officials say that while the majority of those who receive PCNs either pay the appropriate fee or successfully appeal, a small number of drivers persistently flout the law.
Councillor Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s cabinet member, said: “Keeping the county’s roads clear is one of our top priorities, for the safety of both pedestrians and drivers.
“By introducing this new policy we simply aim to target the minority of worst offenders, making parking fairer for everyone.”
A report outlining this new policy will be discussed by the council’s cabinet on Wednesday.

Just gets better and better, stop the illegal clampers and take that market yourself, bonus to the council employee who thought of that one.

Good news but lets hope the clampers remember to have their SIA badge on them when they clamp or come to remove them , becuase if they don’t then legally the clamp has to be removed without payment…

Oh yes please, although it’s not council owned land can I suggest they include Sainsbury’s at Shrewsbury in the list? Quite simply some of the most appalling parking (some one say abandoning) I have seen in a long while

I assume you mean the type who straddles the white line separating the parking bays? if so that is not appalling parking it is deliberate,, the arrogant and rather ignorant sainsbury shopper is known for it “not by my car”

Punish the motorist. What a joy being a motorist is.
How dare motorists try and avoid parking charges. You will be punished.
