Robber steals bag containing £1,000
Thursday 9th June 2011, 6:04PM BST.
A robber pushed a Telford shopkeeper to the floor before snatching a bag containing more than £1,000 in cash.
The 41-year-old woman, who has not been named, banged her head on a wall after the attacker pushed her from behind outside the One Stop shop in Trench.
Police said she had left the store, which she manages, and was on her way to a parked car to take the cash to the bank.
The bag had Breast Cancer Research written on it and the incident happened at around 9.30am yesterday.
Detective Sergeant Andy Garrett said: “The victim is very shaken by the incident and suffered bruising to her forehead and grazes to her hands as a result of this robbery.
“The stolen bag contained a significant amount of cash, more than £1,000, and also a bank paying in book.
“Having stolen the bag it appears the thief, who is described as being white, slim, around 5ft 7ins tall, with dark hair and as wearing a blue jumper and jeans, made off down Stanmore Drive.
“We have conducted house-to-house inquiries in the area but are still keen to hear from anyone who may have information about this robbery.
“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the offender before or after he committed this offence.”
