Oswestry play area needs repairs months after revamp

Part of an Oswestry play area has been cordoned off for repairs less than six months after it was revamped.
A play mound on the Unicorn Road playing field is to undergo repairs to its grass surface over the next few weeks.
Shropshire Council chiefs say the work needs to be done because of the recent dry spell and general wear and tear.
Martin Bennett, a Shropshire Councillor for Oswestry East, and deputy cabinet member, said: “We were under some pressure to ensure that the funding was spent by a particular deadline, which meant doing the work earlier than we would have done.
“As a consequence the grass has not been able to establish. I hope we can get some rain over the next month so the play area is open and ready to be used for the summer holidays.”
Parents are being asked to keep children away from the mound until the grass has had a chance to grow.
