In Ford no-one can hear you scream. . .

There is something sinister lurking in the peaceful Shropshire village.

Go behind the ordinary-looking walls of the Marche Studios and you could find yourself face-to-face with a terrifying 7ft creature from Alien, a Predator or even the Terminator.

The firm’s metal artist Tony Peacock has put his skills to the test to create the steel statues, as well as tiny Gremlins.

But it’s not all villains as Tony has also found time to make some of the “good guys” including Robocop, Mickey Mouse and Wall-E the robot.

He said: “You’ve got to have a good mixture and the last thing we want is for the kids all to be screaming when they come in when they see the aliens and stuff.

There are quite a few characters I have been commissioned to do and there are others I have just produced. The 7ft alien would probably retail at about £3,000 and took about two weeks to create. They are all made from recycled steel, bits off cars and machines and some bits are partially fabricated.

“I have made lots of movie monsters and I have created quite a few of the Gremlins including Gizmo and Star Wars characters as well.

“I don’t think the burglars are going to come in and it’s a good deterrent instead of the bulldog.”

Tony, who works for Marche Studios and has a workshop at Halfway House, said he had been a metal artist for about four years and had worked prior to that for many years as a fabricator.

He creates a wide range of pieces from small sculptures to huge life-size ones. People can view Tony’s sculptures at Marche’s showroom at Ford, near Shrewsbury.
