Man in court over Powys security guard robbery

A 26-year-old man appeared before magistrates after being jointly charged with robbing a security guard of a cash box containing up to £13,000 from outside a Powys bank.

Mark Ricardo Lawlor, from Olton, Solihull, had been arrested in connection with a theft from Christopher Tarbuck, a private security firm guard, at the entrance to Barclays Bank in Machynlleth on May 19.

Lawlor appeared at Brecon Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he was remanded in custody until June 3 when he will appear at Mold Crown Court.

Micquel Daniel France, 24, from the Birmingham area, appeared at Brecon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at Mold Crown Court on the same charge tomorrow.

Police are continuing to hunt a third man, who is white and in his 20s.

Sharon Reynolds, a spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “The police have received an excellent response from the public in relation to this offence and have received much information that has been of great assistance.

“Officers continue to seek to identify the third man that was involved in the offence. Officers continue to make house-to-house enquiries in Welshpool and Machynlleth area. In addition, specialist search teams have been deployed.”
