This week’s pictures from the past – May 20

Here we are at Lake Vyrnwy, west of Oswestry, as seen in a postcard franked at Oswestry on October 29, 1915. The postcard message was simply: "Dear Jennie, I will come by the last train Saturday night." It was posted to a Miss Lewis, of Pentre, Llansantffraid, and was loaned to us by Mrs Anne Hughes of Llansantffraid.

Lots of happy Shropshire faces here, and why not, as these pupils from Pontesbury CofE School were on holiday at Staithes in 1948. The picture was taken at nearby Whitby and although it was over 60 years ago Glyn Price, of Snailbeach, has come up with all the names.
