A pensioner who was killed in a fire at an isolated cottage near Bridgnorth died as a result of smoke inhalation, a post mortem has revealed.

Norma Foster was pulled from her cottage in Rindleford on Monday evening following a fire on the ground floor.

The 90-year-old was declared dead at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services to resuscitate her.

South Shropshire coroner Anthony Sibcy said an inquest would be held on August 2 at Bridgnorth Council Chambers.

The victim’s sister, Jill Wright, from Sutton Coldfield, said she had not yet come to terms with the death, but thanked her family and Mrs Foster’s friends for their amazing support.

Mrs Wright, 81, said: “We have been told that Norma died from inhaling smoke. Although we don’t know the cause of the fire yet.”

Mrs Wright said she would make the funeral arrangements public.
