Shrewsbury rapist locked up
Tuesday 10th May 2011, 6:00PM BST.
A Shrewsbury man who raped a woman in her own home will only be released from prison when he is no longer a threat to society, a court heard today.
Lee Jay Delo, 30, raped his victim five times, wrapping parcel tape around her mouth and hands.
He held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.
Judge Peter Barrie ordered that he serve an indeterminate sentence with a minimum period of imprisonment for three years and nine months.
He described Delo as dangerous and said: “It was a sustained and violent attack and you were on licence for a sexual offence against a 14 year old girl.”
Delo, of Vennington Walk, admitted five counts of rape and one of sexual assault.
A charge of unlawful imprisonment was ordered to lie on the file.
Tim Harrington, for Delo, said: “He has never been convicted of showing violence towards a woman or acting in a non-consensual way sexually.”
