Bridgnorth Hospital work will finish soon
Tuesday 10th May 2011, 4:00PM BST.
Work on a £500,000 refurbishment of a Shropshire hospital’s operating theatre to bring it up to modern and safe standards is expected to be completed shortly.
The theatre at Bridgnorth Hospital was shut in January last year after it was discovered not to meet national standards for care because of its ailing equipment.
Work to revamp the operating theatre began this year.
Nicky Jacques, service manager for the community hospitals at Shropshire County Primary Care Trust, today said: “The refurbishment of the Bridgnorth theatre is nearing completion.”
Shropshire PCT agreed to provide the cash for refurbishment after a petition with more than 4,500 signatures was lodged.
The League of Friends of Bridgnorth Hospital also invested £250,000 into the building’s refurbishment.
The development is being carried out by Pryce Builders and has included new equipment being installed and alterations made to meet the latest infection control standards.
