Thieves have attacked a child’s memorial in Shropshire and stolen the baby’s toys,  leaving a family devastated.

Sharon and Tony Young, from Telford, built a memorial in their garden to their son Tyler who was stillborn in 2006.

After returning from a shopping trip on Monday, the same day as Mr Young’s 40th birthday, the couple discovered thieves had raided the memorial, making off with toy windmills, several toy animals and a specially shaped stone with the words “miss you baby boy, love always Mummy and Daddy”.

Mrs Young, 38, who lives in Bridgewood, Brookside, said she had been left devastated after her family spent years adding items to the memorial in memory of little Tyler.

The thieves struck sometime between 2.30pm and 4.30pm and also made off with two white cherubs, which sat either side of a bench bought by the boy’s grandmother, a 12-inch gnome and lantern and a plant pot shaped like a wellington and decorated with ladybirds.

Mrs Young said: “We are just devastated that someone could be so heartless to come on our property and steal stuff like this.

“These things mean so much to me and my husband, it’s heartbreaking and upsetting.

“We came home and we noticed the garden had been stripped. Quite a few ornaments, garden lights and stones that we bought off eBay for him have been taken.”

The couple also have two other children, Luke, 19, and Tia, three.

Mrs Young added: “This has upset all of the family. My mum bought most of the cherubs and I had to phone her and tell her they were taken, so she was quite upset.

“We built it up over the years and it’s not the first time someone has taken something and we have had to replace it.

“All they have left us with is one stone with his name on it.

“It’s heartbreaking.”

Anyone with information on the thefts can call Telford police on 0300 3333000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

I sincerly hope these scumbags get found. I have every once of sympathy for Mr & Mrs Young, but unfortunatly it’s not crime of the century (But definatly is morally) and they’ll be lucky to get a slap on the wrists. Personally if I caught them the Police would be the least of their worries. I hope somebody has the nerve to report them if they know who it was.
I hope they get some comfort in knowing that people are supporting them.

I hope the family get to them before the Police. A memorial to a child is very special, and I can only wonder what satisfaction these b######s got from doing this.
Lost for words, sympathy to the parents.

It makes my blood boil to read articles like this.
This is another example of the lack of respect and discipline in our society today. Parents let their kids run around out of control and if they do try and discipline them, they then face being dragged into court and being made an example of for being cruel unfit parents.
    You can’t win.

Sadly this demonstrates just how many of the youngsters today have total lack of concern about other people, their property or their feelings. I blame the parents. These lot want it all on a plate but are not prepared to lift a finger to earn it.
I hope that this will not mar your memories of your lost little boy. His memory will remain with you. R.I.P. Tyler, you are sorely missed.
How anyone can desecrate a grave, be it in someone’s garden or an official cemetary or graveyard beats me, sick and depraved worthless trash.

Agreed that this is appaling and all thoughts to the family who have to suffer someone else’s ignorance.

However, I am sick of reading threads on here blaming ‘youngsters today’ – it is also a very ignorant view.

The couple are my best friends. I attended the funeral of Angel Tyler. Words can not describe how we all feel in the local community. A despicable act of theft!
If someone knows something, please let me know and lets get these items returned to Tyler’s parents..

    No excuse.

I just wonder what their defence lawyer will say other than dad took their teddy when they were naughty and mum bottlefed them.
